Jason Babcoke is a Managing Director of Silver Lake Sumeru and Sumeru Equity Partners. He has significant experience in technology-focused investing and operations. Previously, Mr. Babcoke worked at Symphony Technology Group, investing in mid-market software and technology-enabled service companies across multiple sectors. Previously, Mr. Babcoke was a Sr. Manager at Applied Biosystems responsible for strategic product development, and Director of Engineering for Angstron Systems, a venture backed company acquired by Novellus. Earlier in his career, Mr. Babcoke ran technology development projects at Applied Materials and led evaluation of investment opportunities for the Spark Group, a technology-focused investment group founded by professors from UC Berkeley. He currently serves on the board of directors of Blackline. He holds an M.B.A. with high distinction (Baker Scholar) from Harvard Business School, a B.S. in Engineering from UC Berkeley, and a Masters from Stanford in Management Science and Engineering. He also holds four issued patents.
John Brennan is a Managing Director of Silver Lake Sumeru and Sumeru Equity Partners. He has significant experience as a senior executive in technology companies and in strategy consulting. Previously, Mr. Brennan was at Adobe Systems where he most recently led the company's Platform Software business unit. In addition, Mr. Brennan directed the activities of Adobe's Creative Professional business unit in an operating capacity in 2005. Prior to Adobe Systems, Mr. Brennan was with Hewlett-Packard Company, where as Senior Vice President of SMB segment operations, he was responsible for the sales and marketing of the portfolio of products targeted at the SMB segment. Mr. Brennan also spent 8 years working for Accenture Strategic Services where he was a Principal and Associate Partner of Electronics and High-Tech Practice. Mr. Brennan is a director on the boards of Blackline and Healthgrades. Previously, he served on the board of directors of AVI-SPL, ForeFlight, Opera Solutions and Talend. He holds degrees from Yale University and the University of California, Berkeley.
Kevin Cheng is a Vice President of Silver Lake Sumeru and Sumeru Equity Partners. Previously, he worked in the Technology, Media and Telecom Investment Banking Group at J.P. Morgan in San Francisco. Mr. Cheng graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University with a B.S.E. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
Mark Haller is a Principal of Silver Lake Sumeru and Sumeru Equity Partners. Previously, he worked in the Industrials Investment Banking Group at Goldman, Sachs & Co. Mr. Haller graduated with honors from the University of Illinois with a Master of Accounting Science, a B.S. in Finance and a B.S. in Accountancy.
Sean Kendra is a Vice President of Silver Lake Sumeru and Sumeru Equity Partners. Previously, he worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions Investment Banking Group at Greenhill & Co. in New York, primarily covering the healthcare and financial institutions sectors. Mr. Kendra graduated with highest distinction and honors in business from Indiana University with a B.S. in Finance and Accounting.
Paul Mercadante is a Managing Director of Silver Lake Sumeru and Sumeru Equity Partners. He has significant experience as a senior management executive. Previously, Mr. Mercadante was with Shah Capital Partners and President of Force Computers ("Force"), a leading provider of embedded computing systems and a wholly owned subsidiary of Solectron, Inc. that was subsequently sold to Motorola, Inc. in 2004. Prior to Force, Mr. Mercadante was the Vice President of Strategic Planning for Solectron's $2 billion Technology Solutions Business Unit. Mr. Mercadante also has previous experiences with SMART Modular Technologies, Rose Communications, Activision, and Apex Data. He serves on the Board of Directors of SMART Global Holdings, Inc.. Previously, he served on the board of directors of ForeFlight, PrimeSense, AVI-SPL, Outspoken and Spansion, He has a B.A. in Economics from the State University of New York.
Sanjeet Mitra is a Managing Director of Silver Lake Sumeru and Sumeru Equity Partners. He currently serves on the board of directors of Velocity Technology Solutions. Previously, he worked in the Industrials Investment Banking Group at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in San Francisco. Mr. Mitra graduated with honors from the University of California, Berkeley with a B.S. in Business Administration.
Randy Randleman is the COO and a Managing Director of Silver Lake Sumeru and Sumeru Equity Partners. He has spent his career in finance and operating roles in technology companies. From 2006 to 2010, Mr. Randleman was a finance executive at Qualcomm, where he had responsibility for consolidated financial reporting, mergers & acquisitions and strategic planning for multiple business units. Prior to Qualcomm, Mr. Randleman worked at Sprint Communications where he led finance organizations responsible for pricing and cash disbursements. Mr. Randleman began his career with U.S. Filter Corporation's European operations, where he managed the integration of international acquisitions. He holds a Bachelors of Science degree from Georgetown University and an M.B.A. with distinction from Harvard Business School.
Kyle Ryland is a Managing Director of Silver Lake Sumeru and Sumeru Equity Partners. He has in-depth experience with investments, financings, mergers, and acquisitions in the technology sector. Previously, Mr. Ryland was with Shah Capital Partners where he served as a Senior Partner. Before joining Shah Capital, he was a Managing Director at Lehman Brothers and head of Global Technology Investment Banking. Prior to Lehman Brothers, he was an investment banker at Robertson Stephens covering the technology sector and also worked in the firm’s Venture Capital funds where he analyzed and executed venture capital investments. Mr. Ryland is a director on the boards of Locaweb, and Velocity. Previously, he served on the board of directors of AVI-SPL, Inc., ForeFlight and Power-One, Inc. He holds a B.A. in Political Science and Public Policy Studies from Duke University and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Business.
Ajay Shah joined Silver Lake in 2007 as the co-founder and Managing Partner of the firm’s middle market private equity fund, Silver Lake Sumeru. He is also the Chairman and CEO of SMART Global Holdings (SGH), a publicly held portfolio company and Senior Operating Partner of Sumeru Equity Partners. Previously, he founded Shah Capital Partners and is a Principal of that firm.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Shah was the co-founder/ CEO of Smart Modular Technologies, which he led through its public offering. Prior to that he was in senior roles for Advanced Micro Devices and Samsung Semiconductor.
Currently, Mr. Shah also serves on the Board of Directors of Velocity Technology, Locaweb, Telesoft Partners, and Alpha Petroleum. Outside of his investment activities, he is also on the boards of The National Audubon Society, a senior fellow of the American Leadership Forum, serves on the board of The Indian School of Business and is a Trustee of the American India Foundation.
Previously Mr. Shah has served on many public, private and non-profit boards such as Flextronics, Inc., Power One, Stanford School of Engineering and KQED Public Television.
He has a B.S. in Engineering from University of Baroda and an M.S. in Engineering Management from Stanford University.
